Introductions to classic works I will never finish:

No little girl is a stranger to wishing. It’s practically the national pastime of Littlegirlia. Young Maggie wished just as grandly and just as often as her mates. Maggie was different, though. Whether by her methods, her makeup, her intensity, or some combination of the three, Maggie’s wishes always came true. Her parent’s lawn anchored bright pink grass, and the entire acreage was cluttered with soft, poop-free ponies. The fairest, most recently wished for, and most likely to breathe glitter was a Shetland named Dazzlington. Every morning, before coffee, before showering, even before kissing his wife, Maggie’s father was heard to proclaim “Long live Dazzlington!” with a regal Cockney accent. His face never matched the undeniable and involuntary enthusiasm in his voice.
