I won’t say much today, but it is important in these crazy economic and political times to note the difference between uncharted waters and unchartered waters.

I think what all the pundits mean to say is “uncharted.” We are now in uncharted waters, meaning that there is no map or history or experience to lead us. All is unknown and mysterious.

Then again, “unchartered” can mean without regulation or lawless, so maybe some pundits actually mean to use that word. Unchartered waters are wild and unpredictable in a different way.

So I guess it comes down to dealer’s choice on this one.

One could argue that sailing through unchartered waters led us to these uncharted waters.

Either way, we’re up a creek without a paddle.
